This is one of my favourite dish to cook, one of a few dish that I can cook without looking at the recipe and one that I can eat anytime because it is spicy and so easy to make.
The key ingredient is the thai holy basil (Bai Ka-Prao). You can put any type of minced meat that you prefer, however my preference is minced chicken..
PREP TIME + COOK TIME
5 mins + 10 mins
What You'll Need
- 1 cup of Basil (preferably Thai Holy Basil)
- 6 cloves of Garlic
- 4 bird's eye chillies (or more...)
- 500 grams of Minced Chicken
- Veggies of your choice (eg: snake beans, bamboo shoots)
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp of peanut oil
How to Make It
|Step 1|| |
Chop (or pound) garlic, chillies
|Step 2|| |
Heat a pan with the peanut oil and add in the chopped / pounded garlic & chillies until fragrant.
|Step 3|| |
Add and break through the minced chicked on the pan into small pieces. Season with salt and white pepper.
|Step 4|| |
Add in your choice of veggies and then add in the fish sauce, oyster sauce and soy sauce. Correct the seasoning as required and add water if it is too dry.
|Step 5|| |
Once the seasoning taste right, put in the basil leaves and then turn off the heat to preserve the freshness of the basil.
|Step 6|| |
Serve over rice with fried egg on top (optional).
